1802年に設立した火薬製造工場で巨万の富を築き、第一次大戦で巨額の利益を得、新しい化学製品を次々と開発して拡大し、第二次大戦では原爆製造に当たり，戦後原子力産業に進出。

メロン財閥

トーマス・メロン(1813～ 1908年）が、不動産事業による利益を元に1870年に設立したメロン商会を起源とする。南北戦争後銀行を買収した。鉄道の施工。金融恐慌時にガルフ・オイルで7割を支配し、又、アルミニウム業界を差配した。

モルガン財閥

1837～1913、19世紀末には世界最大の銀行家となった。多くの鉄道を経営・USスチールも設立した。アメリカ最大の財閥の1つとなった。海運・電力・通信事業にも進出した。

ロックフェラー財閥

1839～1937　世界最大の石油トラストとして君臨したスタンダード・オイル創始者.シティグループ,石油業や軍事産業、金融業など様々な企業を傘下に収める。

軍産学議会複合体
逸話であるが、アメリカ大統領アイゼンハワーの退任の演説概念。
