21 And his name will be the hope of all the world.”

24 But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said, “No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”

35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.

36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

48 Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”

49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers.

50 Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”

the Farmer Scattering Seed

23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

23 良い土地に落ちた種は、神の言葉を本当に聞いて理解し、植えたものの30倍、60倍、あるいは100倍もの収穫を得る人たちを表しています。”

24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field.

25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’”

24 ここで、イエスが語られたもう一つの話を紹介しよう。「天の御国は、畑に良い種を蒔いた農夫のようなものである。

25 しかし、その夜、働き手が眠っていると、敵がやって来て、麦の間に雑草を植え、それから、そっと逃げ去った。

Parable of the Mustard Seed

31 Here is another illustration Jesus used: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field.

32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”

31 ここで、イエスが使われたもう一つの例証を紹介します。「天の御国は、畑に植えられた一粒のからし種のようなものです。

32 それは、種としては最も小さいものですが、庭木としては最も大きくなり、木に成長し、鳥が来てその枝に巣を作るのです。”

33 Jesus also used this illustration: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

34 Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.

36 Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the house. His disciples said, “Please explain to us the story of the weeds in the field.”

37 Jesus replied, “The Son of Man is the farmer who plants the good seed.

38 The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one.

39 The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.

40 “Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world.

41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.

42 And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!

36 それから、群衆を外に残して、イエスは家の中に入られた。弟子たちが言った、”畑の雑草の話を説明してください”。

37 イエスは答えられた、「人の子は、良い種を植える農夫である。

38 畑は世界であり、良い種は御国の人々を表しています。雑草は、悪に属する人々です。

39 小麦の中に雑草を植えた敵は、悪魔です。収穫は世の終わりで、収穫人は天使たちです。

44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.

45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls.

46 When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!

44 「天の御国は、人が畑に隠してある宝物を発見したようなものです。興奮のあまり、彼はそれを再び隠し、畑を買う十分なお金を得るために、自分の持っているものすべてを売りました。

45 「また、天の御国は、選び抜かれた真珠を探している商人のようなものです。

47 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a fishing net that was thrown into the water and caught fish of every kind.

48 When the net was full, they dragged it up onto the shore, sat down, and sorted the good fish into crates, but threw the bad ones away.

49 That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous,

50 throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

51 Do you understand all these things?” “Yes,” they said, “we do.”

Rejected in Nazareth

47 「繰り返しますが、天の国は、水の中に投げ入れてあらゆる種類の魚を捕る漁網のようなものです。

48 網がいっぱいになると、それを岸に引き揚げ、腰を下ろして、良い魚は木箱に仕分けし、悪い魚は投げ捨てた。

49 世の終わりには、そのようになる。天使たちがやって来て、悪人と正しい人とを分けるのです。

50 悪者を火の燃える炉に投げ入れ、そこで泣き、歯を食いしばるのです。

19 Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people.

20 They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers.

21 About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!

19 それから、人々に草の上に座るように言われた。イエスは五つのパンと二匹の魚を取り、天を仰いで、それを祝福された。そして、パンを裂いて弟子たちに渡し、弟子たちはそれを民衆に配った。

24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves.

25 About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water.

33 Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.

24 一方、弟子たちは、陸から遠く離れたところで、強い風が吹いてきて、激しい波と戦いながら、困っていた。

25 夜中の三時ごろ、イエスは水の上を歩いて、彼らのほうに来られた。

33 そこで、弟子たちは彼を拝んだ。「あなたは本当に神の子なのだ」と叫んだ。

24 Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep — the people of Israel.”

27 She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.”

28 “Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.

24 そこで、イエスはその女に言われた、「わたしは、神の失われた羊、すなわちイスラエルの人々を助けるためにだけ遣わされたのです」

27 彼女（サマリア人）答えた、「主よ、それはそうですが、犬でさえ、主人の食卓の下に落ちている残飯を食べることが許されているのです」。

29 Jesus returned to the Sea of Galilee and climbed a hill and sat down.

30 A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all.

31 The crowd was amazed! Those who hadn’t been able to speak were talking, the crippled were made well, the lame were walking, and the blind could see again! And they praised the God of Israel.

29 イエスはガリラヤの海に帰り、丘に登って腰を下ろされた。

30 大勢の群衆が、足の不自由な人、目の見えない人、足の不自由な人、言葉の通じない人、その他多くの人を彼のところに連れて来た。彼らはイエスの前に寝かせたが、イエスは彼らをすべて癒された。

31 群衆は驚いた。話すことのできなかった人たちが話し、足の不自由な人たちが元気になり、足の不自由な人たちが歩き、目の見えない人たちが再び見ることができるようになったのである。そして、彼らはイスラエルの神をほめたたえた。

36 Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd.

37 They all ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food.

38 There were 4,000 men who were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children.

39 Then Jesus sent the people home, and he got into a boat and crossed over to the region of Magadan.

36 それから、七つのパンと魚を取り、神に感謝し、それを粉々に砕かれた。そして、それを弟子たちに渡し、弟子たちはその食物を群衆に配った。

13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”

15 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.

18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

20 Then he sternly warned the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah

13 イエスはカイザリア・ピリピの地方に来られたとき、弟子たちに言われた、「人々は、人の子は誰だと言っているのか」。

14 “さて、ある人はバプテスマのヨハネと言い、ある人はエリヤと言い、ある人はエレミヤやその他の預言者の一人と言っています。”と彼らは答えた。

21 From then on Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised from the dead.

22 But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!”

23 Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.

25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?

27 For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.

28 And I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”

21 それ以来、イエスは弟子たちに、自分はエルサレムに行く必要があり、長老たち、祭司長たち、宗教律法の教師たちの手によって多くのひどい目に遭うことになる、とはっきりと告げ始めた。 彼は殺されましたが、三日目によみがえりました。

27 人の子は御使いたちと共に御父の栄光のうちに来て、すべての人をその行いにしたがって裁くからです。
