3-3 ヨハネ黙示録 6-９

6:1 I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!”

6:2 And behold,
a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came forth conquering, and to conquer.

6:3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”

6:4 Another came forth, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword.

6:5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand.

6:6 I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix {A choenix is a dry volume measure that is a little more than a litre (a little more than a quart).} of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”

6:7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!”

6:8 And behold, a pale horse, and he who sat on it, his name was Death. Hades {or, Hell} followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him.

6:1小羊(イエス）がその七つの封印の一つを解いた時、わたしが見ていると、四つの生き物の一つが、雷のような声で「きたれ」と呼ぶのを聞いた。

6:2そして見ていると、見よ、白い馬（反キリスト的勝利の象徴）が出てきた。そして、それに乗っている者は、弓（平和的方法で世界統治）を手に持っており、また冠を与えられて、勝利の上にもなお勝利を得ようとして出かけた。

6:3小羊が第二の封印を解いた時、第二の生き物が「きたれ」と言うのを、わたしは聞いた。

6:4すると今度は、赤い馬（流血の象徴）が出てきた。そして、それに乗っている者は、人々が互に殺し合うようになるために、地上から平和を奪い取ることを許され、また、大きなつるぎを与えられた。

6:5また、第三の封印を解いた時、第三の生き物が「きたれ」と言うのを、わたしは聞いた。そこで見ていると、見よ、黒い馬（飢饉の象徴）が出てきた。そして、それに乗っている者は、はかりを手に持っていた。

6:6すると、わたしは四つの生き物の間から出て来ると思われる声が、こう言うのを聞いた、「小麦一ますは一デナリ。大麦三ますも一デナリ。オリブ油とぶどう酒（医薬品）とを、そこなうな」。

6:7小羊が第四の封印を解いた時、第四の生き物が「きたれ」と言う声を、わたしは聞いた。

6:8そこで見ていると、見よ、青白い馬（死病の象徴）が出てきた。そして、それに乗っている者の名は「死」と言い、それに黄泉が従っていた。彼らには、地の四分の一を支配する権威、および、つるぎと、ききんと、死と、地の獣らとによって人を殺す権威とが、与えられた。

6:9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.

6:10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

6:11 A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, {The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”} who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.

6:12 I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood.

6:13 The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.

6:14 The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

6:15 The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.

6:16 They told the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,

6:17 for the great day of his wrath has come; and who is able to stand?”

6:9小羊が第五の封印を解いた時、神の言のゆえに、また、そのあかしを立てたために、殺された人々の霊魂が、祭壇の下にいるのを、わたしは見た。

6:10彼らは大声で叫んで言った、「聖なる、まことなる主よ。いつまであなたは、さばくことをなさらず、また地に住む者に対して、わたしたちの血の報復をなさらないのですか」。

6:11すると、彼らのひとりびとりに白い衣が与えられ、それから、「彼らと同じく殺されようとする僕仲間や兄弟たちの数が満ちるまで、もうしばらくの間、休んでいるように」（キリスト再臨まで待て）と言い渡された。

6:12小羊が第六の封印を解いた時、わたしが見ていると、大地震が起って、太陽は毛織の荒布のように黒くなり、月は全面、血のようになり、

6:13天の星は、いちじくのまだ青い実が大風に揺られて振り落されるように、地に落ちた。（巨大な地震と噴火と隕石落下で地球が粉塵で覆われる。）

6:14天は巻物が巻かれるように消えていき、すべての山と島とはその場所から移されてしまった。

6:15地の王たち、高官、千卒長、富める者、勇者、奴隷、自由人らはみな、ほら穴や山の岩かげに、身をかくした。

6:16そして、山と岩とにむかって言った、「さあ、われわれをおおって、御座にいますかたの御顔と小羊の怒りとから、かくまってくれ。

6:17御怒りの大いなる日が、すでにきたのだ。だれが、その前に立つことができようか」。

7:1 After this, I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth,
holding the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth, or on the sea, or on any tree.

7:2 I saw another angel ascend from the sunrise, having the seal of the living God. He cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was given to harm the earth and the sea,

7:3 saying, “Don’t harm the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, until we have sealed the bondservants of our God on their foreheads!”

7:4 I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the children of Israel:

7:5 of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand, of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand,

7:6 of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand,

7:7 of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand,

7:8 of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

7:1この後、わたしは四人の御使が地の四すみに立っているのを見た。彼らは地の四方の風をひき止めて、地にも海にもすべての木にも、吹きつけないようにしていた。

7:2また、もうひとりの御使が、生ける神の印を持って、日の出る方から上って来るのを見た。彼は地と海とをそこなう権威を授かっている四人の御使にむかって、大声で叫んで言った、

7:3「わたしたちの神のしもべらの額に、わたしたちが印をおしてしまうまでは、地と海と木とをそこなってはならない」。

7:4わたしは印をおされた者の数を聞いたが、イスラエルの子らのすべての部族のうち、印をおされた者は十四万四千人であった。

7:5ユダの部族のうち、一万二千人が印をおされ、ルベンの部族のうち、一万二千人、ガドの部族のうち、一万二千人、

7:6アセルの部族のうち、一万二千人、ナフタリの部族のうち、一万二千人、マナセの部族のうち、一万二千人、

7:7シメオンの部族のうち、一万二千人、レビの部族のうち、一万二千人、イサカルの部族のうち、一万二千人、

7:8ゼブルンの部族のうち、一万二千人、ヨセフの部族のうち、一万二千人、ベニヤミンの部族のうち、一万二千人が印をおされた。

7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.

7:10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation be to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

7:11 All the angels were standing around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before his throne, and worshiped God,

7:12 saying, “Amen!
Blessing,
glory,
wisdom,
thanksgiving,
honor,
power, and
might,
be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

7:13 One of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are arrayed in white robes, who are they, and from where did they come?”

7:14 I told him, “My lord, you know.” He said to me, “These are those who came out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb’s blood.

7:15 Therefore they are before the throne of God, they serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them.

7:16 They will never be hungry, neither thirsty any more; neither will the sun beat on them, nor any heat;

7:17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shepherds them, and leads them to springs of waters of life. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

7:9その後、わたしが見ていると、見よ、あらゆる国民、部族、民族、国語のうちから、数えきれないほどの大ぜいの群衆が、白い衣を身にまとい、しゅろの枝を手に持って、御座と小羊との前に立ち、

:10大声で叫んで言った、「救は、御座にいますわれらの神と小羊からきたる」。

7:11御使たちはみな、御座と長老たちと四つの生き物とのまわりに立っていたが、御座の前にひれ伏し、神を拝して言った、

7:12「アァメン、さんび、栄光、知恵、感謝、ほまれ、力、勢いが、世々限りなく、われらの神にあるように、アァメン」。

7:13長老たち（既に天国にいる）ひとりが、わたしにむかって言った、「この白い衣を身にまとっている人々は、だれか。また、どこからきたのか」。

7:14わたしは彼に答えた、「わたしの主よ、それはあなたがご存じです」。すると、彼はわたしに言った、「彼らは大きな患難（大艱難時代の苦難）をとおってきた人たちであって、その衣を小羊の血で洗い（イエスへの信仰で）、それを白くしたのである。

7:15それだから彼らは、神の御座の前におり、昼も夜もその聖所で神に仕えているのである。御座にいますかたは、彼らの上に幕屋を張って共に住まわれるであろう。

7:16彼らは、もはや飢えることがなく、かわくこともない。太陽も炎暑も、彼らを侵すことはない。

7:17御座の正面にいます小羊は彼らの牧者となって、いのちの水の泉に導いて下さるであろう。また神は、彼らの目から涙をことごとくぬぐいとって下さるであろう」。

8:1 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

8:2 I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

8:3 Another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer. Much incense was given to him, that he should add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne.

8:4 The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand.

8:5 The angel took the censer, and he filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it on the earth. There followed thunders, sounds, lightnings, and an earthquake.

8:6 The seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

8:1小羊が第七の封印を解いた時、半時間ばかり天に静けさがあった。

8:2それからわたしは、神のみまえに立っている七人の御使を見た。そして、七つのラッパが彼らに与えらていた。

8:3また、別の御使が出てきて、金の香炉を手に持って祭壇の前に立った。たくさんの香が彼に与えられていたが、これは、すべての聖徒の祈に加えて、御座の前の金の祭壇の上にささげるためのものであった。

8:4香の煙は、御使の手から、聖徒たちの祈と共に神のみまえに立ちのぼった。

8:5御使はその香炉をとり、これに祭壇の火を満たして、地に投げつけた。すると、多くの雷鳴と、もろもろの声と、いなずまと、地震とが起った。

8:6そこで、七つのラッパを持っている七人の御使が、それを吹く用意をした。

8:7 The first sounded, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. One third of the earth was burnt up, {TR omits “One third of the earth was burnt up”} and one third of the trees were burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

8:7第一の御使が、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。すると、血のまじった雹と火とがあらわれて、地上に降ってきた。そして、地の三分の一が焼け、
木の三分の一が焼け、また、
すべての青草も焼けてしまった。

8:8 The second angel sounded, and something like a great burning mountain was thrown into the sea. One third of the sea became blood,

8:9 and one third of the living creaturesあいにの which were in the sea died. One third of the ships were destroyed.

8:8第二の御使が、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。すると、火の燃えさかっている大きな山のようなものが、海に投げ込まれた。そして、
海の三分の一は血となり、

8:9海の中の造られた
生き物の三分の一は死に、
舟の三分の一がこわされてしまった。

8:10 The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from the sky, burning like a torch, and it fell on one third of the rivers, and on the springs of the waters.

8:11 The name of the star is called “Wormwood.” One third of the waters became wormwood. Many people died from the waters, because they were made bitter.

8:10第三の御使が、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。すると、たいまつのように燃えている大きな星が、空から落ちてきた。そしてそれは、川の三分の一とその水源との上に落ちた。

8:11この星の名は「苦よもぎ」と言い、水の三分の一が「苦よもぎ」のように苦くなった。水が苦くなったので、そのために多くの人が死んだ。

8:12 The fourth angel sounded, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars; so that one third of them would be darkened, and the day wouldn’t shine for one third of it, and the night in the same way.

8:13 I saw, and I heard an eagle, {TR reads “angel” instead of “eagle”} flying in mid heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe! Woe! Woe for those who dwell on the earth, because of the other voices of the trumpets of the three angels, who are yet to sound!”

8:12第四の御使が、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。すると、太陽の三分の一と、月の三分の一と、星の三分の一とが打たれて、これらのものの三分の一は暗くなり、昼の三分の一は明るくなくなり、夜も同じようになった。

8:13また、わたしが見ていると、一羽のわし（御使い）が中空を飛び、大きな声でこう言うのを聞いた、「ああ、わざわいだ、わざわいだ、地に住む人々は、わざわいだ。なお三人の御使がラッパを吹き鳴らそうとしている」。

9:1 The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him.

9:2 He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke from a {TR adds “great”} burning furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit.

9:3 Then out of the smoke came forth locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

9:4 They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who don’t have God’s seal on their foreheads.

9:5 They were given power
not to kill them,
but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a person.

9:6 In those days
people will seek death,
and will in no way find it.
They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

9:7 The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people’s faces.

9:8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like those of lions.

9:9 They had breastplates, like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war.

9:10 They have tails like those of scorpions, and stings. In their tails they have power to harm men for five months.

9:11 They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is “Abaddon,” {“Abaddon” is a Hebrew word that means ruin, destruction, or the place of destruction} but in Greek, he has the name “Apollyon.” {“Apollyon” means “Destroyer.”}

9:1第五の御使が、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。するとわたしは、一つの星が天から地に落ちたままになっているのを見た。この星に、アブソス(死後の深淵）を開くかぎが与えられた。

9:2そして、このアブソスが開かれた。すると、その穴から煙が大きな炉の煙のように立ちのぼり、その穴の煙で、太陽も空気も暗くなった。

9:3その煙の中から、いなごが地上に出てきたが、地のさそりが持っているような力が、彼らに与えられた。

9:4彼らは、地の草やすべての青草、またすべての木をそこなってはならないが、額に神の印がない人たちには害を加えてもよいと、言い渡された。

9:5彼らは、人間を殺すことはしないで、五か月のあいだ苦しめることだけが許された。彼らの与える苦痛は、人がさそりにさされる時のような苦痛であった。

9:6その時には、人々は死を求めても与えられず、死にたいと願っても、死は逃げて行くのである。

9:7これらのいなご（悪霊）は、出陣の用意のととのえられた馬によく似ており、その頭には金の冠のようなものをつけ、その顔は人間の顔のようであり、

9:8また、そのかみの毛は女のかみのようであり、その歯はししの歯のようであった。

9:9また、鉄の胸当のような胸当をつけており、その羽の音は、馬に引かれて戦場に急ぐ多くの戦車の響きのようであった。

9:10その上、さそりのような尾と針とを持っている。その尾には、五か月のあいだ人間をそこなう力がある。

9:11彼らは、底知れぬ所の使を王にいただいており、その名をヘブル語でアバドンと言い、ギリシヤ語ではアポルオンと言う。

9:12 The first woe is past. Behold, there are still two woes coming after this.

9:13 The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the horns of the golden altar which is before God,

9:14 saying to the sixth angel who had one trumpet, “Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates!”

9:15 The four angels were freed who had been prepared for that
hour and
day and
month and
year, so that they might kill one third of mankind.

9:16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million {literally, “ten thousands of ten thousands”}. I heard the number of them.

9:17 Thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of lions. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur.

9:18 By these three plagues were one third of mankind killed: by the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths.

9:19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, and have heads, and with them they harm.

9:20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed with these plagues, didn’t repent of the works of their hands, that they wouldn’t worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood; which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.

9:21 They didn’t repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, {The word for “sorceries” (pharmakeia) also implies the use of potions, poisons, and drugs} nor of their sexual immorality, nor of their thefts.

9:12第一のわざわいは、過ぎ去った。見よ、この後、なお二つのWoesが来る。

9:13第六の御使が、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。すると、一つの声が、神のみまえにある金の祭壇の四つの角から出て、

9:14ラッパを持っている第六の御使にこう呼びかけるのを、わたしは聞いた。「大ユウフラテ川のほとりにつながれている四人の御使（堕天使）を、解いてやれ」。

9:15すると、その時、その日、その月、その年に備えておかれた四人の御使（堕天使）が、
人間の三分の一を殺すために、
解き放たれ。

9:16（堕天使が指揮する）騎兵隊（悪霊）の数は二億であった。わたしはその数を聞いた。

9:17そして、まぼろしの中で、それらの馬とそれに乗っている者たちとを見ると、乗っている者たちは、火の色と青玉色と硫黄の色の胸当をつけていた。そして、それらの馬の頭はししの頭のようであって、その口から火と煙と硫黄とが、出ていた。

9:18この三つの災害、すなわち、彼らの口から出て来る
火と煙と硫黄とによって、
人間の三分の一は殺されてしまった。

9:19馬の力はその口と尾とにある。その尾はへびに似ていて、それに頭があり、その頭で人に害を加えるのである。

9:20これらの災害で殺されずに残った人々は、自分の手で造ったものについて、悔い改めようとせず、また悪霊のたぐいや、金、銀、銅、石、木で造られ、見ることも聞くことも歩くこともできない偶像を礼拝して、やめようともしなかった。

9:21また、彼らは、その犯した殺人や、まじないや、不品行や、盗みを悔い改めようとしなかった。
